About creating a WhatsApp Channel
Create a channel to use WhatsApp to share updates and information with your current followers and connect with new ones. With a channel, you can share one-way updates to an unlimited audience.
Share updates and information with your followers
Use your channel to share things like:
  • Text
  • Images
  • Videos
  • Stickers
  • Links
While some features might feel familiar to WhatsApp chats, channel updates are a one-way broadcast rather than a conversation. Followers can’t reply directly to updates or send messages to channel admins. Instead they can show their interest in a channel’s content by adding emoji reactions to channel updates or voting on polls.
Updates are sent from your channel, which is in a separate part of the app away from chats and calls. Followers won’t see your WhatsApp profile name, picture, or your phone number.
You’re responsible for keeping the content on your channel safe, relevant, and age-appropriate for your followers, learn more in the Channels Guidelines.
Attract new followers
People can find your channel several ways.
  • External link: Share a link to your channel on other websites or apps. Your channel and updates will be viewable in WhatsApp.
  • In-app sharing: Followers can share channels they like with their WhatsApp contacts.
  • Browsing in the app: WhatsApp users can search for channels or find them by browsing the directory.
  • Measure engagement
See metrics about your channel like:
    • Number of channel followers. Also see which followers are contacts by viewing your channel follower list.
    • View counts for channel updates.
    • Number and type of emoji reactions.
Learn more about channel metrics here.
While WhatsApp Channels is still new and evolving, here are some things to keep in mind:
    • A channel can only have one admin for now, meaning it can only be managed by the phone number it was created with.
    • You can’t edit updates shared in a channel yet.
    • We’re rolling out WhatsApp Channels gradually and in a limited number of countries, so channel creation isn’t available to everyone yet. In the meantime, feel free to join the waitlist to get notified when WhatsApp Channels is available to you.
    • We’ll continue to add new features for channel admins as we grow.
Get started by creating a channel and see the resources linked below to learn more.
Find and follow people and organizations you care about on WhatsApp Channels to stay informed or learn something new. When you follow a channel, you’ll see updates like written notes, links to information, photos, or videos from them in the Channels section of the Updates tab. To know when there’s a new update, you can also choose to turn on notifications for a channel.
How to find channels
Find channels with topics that interest you by:
  • Browsing the channel list: See all channels available to you. The list is automatically filtered to show channels based on your phone number’s country code and your language preference, but you can explore all channels by changing the country, category, filter option and more.
  • Checking out recommended channels: See the channels recommended to you by scrolling to the bottom of the Updates tab to view the Find channels section. Channels are recommended based on channel metrics, like how popular and active they are.
  • Finding channels through external links: Channel admins can share a link outside of WhatsApp to help people to find their channel. Use the link to open a channel in WhatsApp and browse updates.
Check out the list of channels available to you by:
  1. Clicking the Channels icon
  2. Clicking
     > Find channels.

to search through all channels available to you. Search results may be prioritized by channel metrics, like how popular and active they are. When you search for channels, search terms are logged to make it easier to find channels and improve the search and channels experience.
You can preview channel updates before you follow:
  • To see what type of updates a channel posts, click the channel name to preview recent updates.

If you want to edit a channel update instead, you can edit an update up to 30 days after sharing. Learn more about how to edit channel updates.
Keep in mind:
  • People may see an update before you delete it or if deletion isn’t successful.
  • When an update contains media, users may still have things like photos or videos automatically downloaded and saved to their phone. These and any other locally saved copies of updates (like screenshots) will remain even after you delete the update.
  • Updates that are forwarded between WhatsApp users or shared off platform won’t be deleted.
Delete an update from your channel
  1. From the Updates tab, find and tap on your channel to open it.
  2. Tap and hold the update you want to delete.
  3. Tap Delete
     > Delete for everyone.
If successfully deleted:
  • You’ll see a message in your channel: “You deleted this update.”
  • Followers will see the message in your channel: "This update was deleted."
If an update isn’t deleted successfully, it’ll remain in your channel.
